My Nano Month

Whew!

I understand I have been ignoring this blog for a while, but I promise I had good reason.

About a week ago, I found myself about 10K words behind pace for Nanowrimo. I was a lost cause, dead in the water, a chicken with its head cut off.

But then, something happened. I got a week off for Thanksgiving and somehow found myself rolling. And next thing you know, I have finished my 50,000 words in 29 days. Yes, somehow I finished early.

But that doesn't mean I'm done yet. I haven't finished the plot quite yet. I am just getting to the climax, so there is still some writing to be done.

Then I will begin the careful editing and re-writing of the novel. This could take a majority of the next two months.

My mission to get a book published in 3 months is far from over.

Thanks to all of you for your support during this process, I will continue to update you as the process continues.

What a twist!

What a twist!

This is so much fun, but hard to write.

My plot is so loaded with twists and turns that I am loving writing it. I have an idea whats going to happen next, but even I am surprised sometimes.

But, there is a problem with this. I am struggling with pacing, which is why I am about 5K behind. Uh oh.

Oh well, still time to catch up. Oh, and you might want to ignore the total on the map, cause to be honest, I am not updating it regularly.

Anyways, back to writing

1 week in, 1 day behind

Just thought I would give you an update on my Nano project. I am behind, about a day. Uh oh.

Updating this page with a nano widget so you can keep tabs.

Here is my Nano page.

And I am back to work. Later!

And here we....go.

It is chaos... A mad dash to write as many words as possible in 30 days, a month of sleepless nights and overworked coffee makers, a fight against writers block and prior committments, and I am doing it. Thats right, folks, its nano time.

Time to introduce a little...anarchy.

Now some of you may be thinking, why would anyone in their right mind do this? Well, I have a little secret for you, I am not in my right mind. I am much too ambitious to be in my right mind. I want this work published and I will do anything, including willingly kick my own ass for 30 days, in order to make that happen.

So, here we go...

Stay tuned for further updates. I have a feeling this blog will see much more action in the next month.

Any Ideas for a new title?

So I have been thinking I need a new title for my novel. I am starting to like "Freelance" less and less. For anyone familiar with the project, any ideas? I kind of want to incorporate something about ghosts in there (Seeing as how Ian is supposed to be dead, and his handler is called Spectre) Hell, I don't know. Any suggestions are welcome.

Nano is almost here!

Hey folks,
So, as mentioned last time, I am writing Freelance as my Nanowrimo novel this year, and I am excited for 2 reasons.
1) because I am finally going to finish it. (Mark my words. It will happen.)
2) and because there is close to a 100% chance it will be published, at least on a small scale (thanks to Jayhawk Ink for the Nano promotion they are holding with J-WoC)

But that means I need your help, my 4 followers.
In order for it to be published, I need to finish editing and rewriting by January. Yes. 1 month after Nano. Crazy, right?

So That is why I am asking you to help me with my newly formed Editing Corps! I have set up a google docs account and will be uploading the novel 1 chapter at a time. If you get a chance, take a look, edit any of the many mistakes, and send me any suggestions you can think of for improvement. The more eyes I get looking at it, the better! I will look at the suggestions and editing it as quickly as I possibly can.

Let me know if you are interested, I will send you a link to the document once it is started.

See you Nov. 1!

Ah so excited!

So we are just 40 days away from Nano 2010... And I haven't done much with my novel. Fortunately, this means that since I have so few words done, I am thinking about saving it for Nano so I can finally get some stuff done on it. Unfortunately, this means I will be taking a break for a bit.

I know, its semi-cheating to have anything done before Nano, but the way I see it, Nano is the best chance for me to finish this damn thing. Trust me, I couldn't be more excited. I have so much planned, so much I want to do, that now all I need is the time and the motivation to sit down and just DO it. Nano is my chance, and I will get it done.

Also, I am starting a google docs account for people to read what I have written. As soon as I get to it, I will post the link. Also, I plan to update this blog more often once Nano starts. Just for you, my three followers.

That being said, I have exciting news for members of J-WOC that are participating in Nano... Possibly of the publishing variety. Maybe of the selling variety. Book signings anyone?

More news to come.

Until Next Time,
-AJ
